We're familiar with the seven "I am" statements of Jesus in John's Gospel:
- "I am the bread of life" (John 6:35, 41, 48, 51)
- "I am the light of the world" (John 8:12, 9:5)
- "I am the door (or the gate)" (John 10:7, 9)
- "I am the good shepherd" (John 10:11, 14)
- "I am the resurrection and the life" (John 11:25)
- "I am the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6)
- "I am the true vine" (John 15:1, 5)
We're also familiar with the seven statements of Jesus while upon the cross:
- "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing" (Luke 23:34)
- "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise" (Luke 23:43)
- To His mother, "Dear woman, here is your son," and to [John], "Here is your mother" (John 19:26-27)
- "My God, My God, why have you forsaken Me?" (Matthew 27:46; Mark 15:34)
- "I am thirsty" (John 19:28)
- "It is finished" (John 19:30)
- "Father, into your hands I commit My spirit" (Luke 23:46)
Are they related?
